一分钟英语幽默小故事：The Clever Pig
Once upon a time, there was a pig named Percy who lived on a farm. Percy wasn’t like other pigs—he loved books and learning new things. While his fellow animals spent their days lazing in the sun or rooting around for food, Percy could often be found curled up with a book under a shady tree.
One day, the farmer announced a competition: “Whoever can solve this riddle will win an entire barrel of apples!” The riddle went like this: "I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with wind. What am I?"
The cows scratched their heads, the chickens clucked confusedly, and even the dog wagged his tail in frustration. But Percy raised his hand and said confidently, "It’s an echo!"
The farmer blinked in surprise. "How did you know that?" he asked.
Percy replied, "Well, I read about it in one of my books. Echoes are fascinating—they bounce sound waves back to us."
Impressed, the farmer handed over the barrel of apples to Percy. As word spread across the farm, all the animals began to see Percy differently. They started asking him questions about everything from weather patterns to how plants grow.
From then on, Percy became known as the smartest animal on the farm. And though he still enjoyed reading, he also made sure to share his knowledge with others, proving that being clever doesn’t mean keeping secrets—it means helping everyone grow together.
Moral of the story? Even a pig can teach you something if you listen carefully!
